Over 48,000 enrolled in Prahran District before by-election

Over 48,000 people in Prahran District are expected to vote in the upcoming by-election after the roll closed on Friday 27 December 2024.

Exactly 48,164 voters in Prahran District were enrolled at the close of roll at 8 pm on Friday 27 December 2024. This is a decrease of 769 electors since the 2022 State election.

Early voting begins on Wednesday 29 January, with early voting centres open until Friday 7 February. Details of opening hours and accessibility ratings will be available from the same date on the VEC’s online voting centre locator, at maps.vec.vic.gov.au/elections

Voters unable to vote early or on election day can apply for a postal vote. Postal vote applications are available:

  • online at vec.vic.gov.au
  • at the election office at Suite 3.02, Level 3, 8 Palmerston Crescent, South Melbourne
  • by calling 131 832.

Applications for postal votes must be received by 6 pm on Wednesday 5 February. Completed ballot papers must be in the mail or hand-delivered to a voting centre before 6 pm on election day, Saturday 8 February.

Voting is compulsory for all voters who were on the roll in Prahran District as at the close of roll (8 pm Friday 27 December 2024).
